Wait: That nodule is too small to characterize. Following up according to  guidelines is probably what the pulmonologist will tell you. Other, considerations include family history and your personal smoking history.

june 2023- chest xray- results- biapical pleural-parenchymal scarring and question 1 right lung apex nodule. chest xray was due to having covid in 11/2022. radiologist suggests repeat pa and do apical lordotic views. can covid cause these findings?

: I doubt those findings are due to covid-19 infection if there is no abnormal finding in the lower lung fields. Repeat CXR with PA and apical lordotic views may give more information. If you are at risk for tuberculosis exposure in the past, then a tuberculin test should be done. CT scan of the chest may be necessary. Good luck.

Needs attention: Breast cancer can recurr, so this needs to be carefully assessed and monitored. Pleural based densities can be old inflammatory changes or new..So a caomparison with older x-rays/scans should be done to determine if they are new. In either case, a repeat study shou;ld be done in 2 months to look for further growth. A pet scan can also determine if this change is likely to be cancer related or not.

my sister had a uppper rt lung lobectomy last year ...has non small cell adeonocarcinoma....ct scans and pet scans every 3 months...past 2 recent ct scans plus pet scan are showing an increased pleural based nodular density in the rt lower lobe anteriorly

May need biopsy : Has to be concerned for recurrence of tumor, I am sure her doctor already explained ,  if there is fluid will analyze , may visualize area  with thoracoscope and biopsy the area, if it is scar nothing to be done, if it is a recurrence need additional  treatments and  to follow her doctor advice.

: Those findings can be the residuals from a previous fungal or parasitic or bacterial pulmonary infection if your friend had previous exposure. It is almost the same for the finding of calcified lesions in the primary infection of tuberculosis. It is not clinically relevant so his doctor did not pay attention or explain the finding.

Most likely OK: Small pleural based nodule is most likely a granuloma (left over from prior infection) but could conceivably be a small cancer. You will most likely be followed with ct, especially if you are a smoker. If there is no growth it is probably just a small granuloma and no biopsy is necessary. Biapical pleural parenchymal scarring is very common, but may also be followed. Calcific densities r likely ok.

: They are very small-too small to biopsy. Often, these end up being inflammatory nodules that will go away; sometimes new ones will appear. If you are smoking, you should quit ASAP. These will need to be followed so you should probably be re-scanned in about 3 months or so. If they haven’t changed, then the scan occurs again 6 months later and then a year after that, if there are no changes.

what should i do for a lung nodule found on right lung?

Get it TNM staged.: If there is a lung nodule, and it appears solitary, it still needs to be evaluated to see if there is no metastasis, etc..  Ct scan and an ENT (ears, nose, and throat) exam are done.  The ct helps determine if there is lymph node involvement.  An aspiration biopsy of the lesion can be taken to determine its histology.  Surgical resection in localized cases is done for all types except small cell.
