Pinched nerve: A pinched nerve can cause numbness in the lower abdomen but usually low back radiculopathies cause radiation of discomfort to the leg. Perhaps the superficial nerves of that portion of the abdomen are pinched or irritated. A neurologist is qualified to evaluate your symptoms.

this numbness on my right side in the right lumbar region of my abdomen has a feeling of numbness much like when a limb falls asleep except it doesn't have to tingle. there is no pain when i press and also no other symptoms. i do have ppms. ?

Sudden numbness: Could be sciatica equivalent,  or early shingles ( though usually there is pain)  rarely lyme  or MS. Would test for lyme  and herpes  -acylcovir  helps for  shingles . MRI head would identify MS  and MRI LS spine would note if there is evidence of nerve compression( not all with  compression are symptomatic) . If all is negative  consider CT abd /pelvis to see  if anything else  f/u/ w /doc

Musculoskeletal: Early 20's female w. unilateral abdominal "numbness" &amp; same-sided sciatica. Assuming single disorder, only pain referral pattern explanatory is pelvic girdle joint disorder. Vertebral spine neural impingements refer pain in sciatic &amp; long-leg radiculopathy patterns. Sacroiliac joint disorders distinctively refer to ipsilateral abdomen/pelvis &amp; groin. Osteopaths are skillful diagnosticians of this.

Depends.: If this just started in the last 24-72 hours, you should get seen at an ER today.  if it  has been going on longer than that, see a doc this week for appropriate exam and testing.  Hard to say what is going on without more history and an exam.  If this started within the last 1-3 hours call an ambulance or get taken to the ER right now!

: Your question can be better addressed if you can provide additional history about your spleen. Do you have an enlarged spleen or any disease affecting your spleen because spleen does not hurt unless it is enlarged??. If it is enlarged you must have a physician taking care of you who can safely provide you proper medication. In general, Tylenol is a safer medicine to take, as compared to Motrin.

Asked MD?: This is an odd symptom. Does "numb" mean less feeling or too much feeling, i.e. Paresthesias (pins and needles)? Are there skin changes over the area (as in old shingles)? The nerves supplying the left lower quadrant come from the lower thoracic spinal roots, i.e. From the spinal roots at the lower end of the rib-cage. How long is "a long time"? Has your doctor examined you? What does (s)he say?

Problems within the gastrointestinal tract generally cause different symptoms such as cramps, nausea, pain,tenderness,distension,bowel or other digestive problems.
