Abnormal Mammogram : A density or "spot" on a m'gram requires further evaluation, which may include reviewing prior m'gram's, a diagnostic m'gram, and/or an ultrasound.  This closer look will allow us to categorize this as "probably benign" (requiring 6 month follow-up) or "suspicious" (requiring a biopsy).   Hope this helps!

mammogram showed grape size white area. had view redone because breast tissue wasn't compressed. 2nd test the "grape" not there. why? concerned?

Try not to worry : This is common and a big source of confusion and concern for patients. When taking the picture of  the breast, tissue sometimes randomly overlaps and will appear denser (white) than it should. This happens roughly 10% of the time. The only way to know this isn't cancer is to take another picture. If it disappears (it usually does) then you know it's tissue overlap, not cancer. I hope this helps!

Understandable: Nothing wrong to be worried about having a life threatening condition.  Even if cancer, when caught early,  death rates have gone down considerably.  Address asap if only to better allay your anxiety.  Surgical consult indicated.

: translation= the study was not conclusive and minor irregularities could not be evaluated further since there was no previous study to refer to. The basic meaning is they want another study because this was not considered clear enough to call absolutely normal. It is a common thing for them to ask for repeats.

Mammogram: A diagnostic mammogram is essentially an xray of the breast and does involve multiple views and angles. These are usually done if the screening mammogram is abnormal or if pathology is found during a physical breast examination.
