Avoid excess UV: Well,,after images and retinal burns are two very different things.  After images can occur in normal light level settings and resolve in seconds with no adverse effect.  Retinal burns represent photo toxicity... Sun gazing, photographing sun, eclipse gazing, welding light.  Permanent damage to retinal photoreceptors can be irreversible. Advice- wear UV protective eyewear and avoid excess exposure

Retin A (tretinoin): Burning, redness and dryness will invariably occur at that strength of Retin A, (tretinoin). Try every other day until your skin adapts to it. You should only use it at bed time, make sure your face is very dry before applying it and use only a pea size of the cream for the whole face.
You may apply a good moisturizer with SUNBLOCK in the morning.

No difference: The effects of shampoo, conditioner, facial scrub, bath soap, bath water, shower gel, shower water, etc..., on one's eyes are the same, regardless of whether or not her eyes are dilated. Because numbing drops are used just before dilating drops, a patient should be sure not to rub her eyes (just dab with tissue) during dilation in the eye clinic, so not to accidentally scratch her numbed cornea.

Retinal holes: Retinal holes can either be observed or lasered.  If the retinal hole is low risk, they are observed.  If high risk (symptomatic, high near-sightedness, history of prior retinal detachment, etc), then laser should be performed.

Age: The vitreous jelly changes as we age and it pulls away from the back of the eye (retina) - a posterior vitreous detachment. During this process, if the jelly pulls hard enough on the retina (especially in a thin or weak area) it can tear the retina which can subsequently detach. Other risk factors include myopia, cataract surgery, head/eye trauma, family history, lattice degeneration, etc.

The retina converts this light information into electrical signals that get transmitted along the optic nerve to the brain for interpretation as vision. If the damage is from swelling or bleeding under or in the retina, there are treatments to resolve these problems and restore retinal function. Depends: It depends on the cause. Sometimes there is swelling of the retina.  It can occur after cataract surgery and other conditions such as macular degeneration.  It can sometimes be treated with eye drops or special injections.   Sometimes membranes form on the surface of the retina that thicken the retina and it can pull and distort it.  
Any thickening of the retina can cause decreased vision.
