i have history of a asd repair as a child, large amount of scar tissue on my heart . last few month retaining fluids in my legs/ abdomen, notice low bp but increase pulse . what could be wrong?

Echo/CTscan help: Increasing fluid buildup w relative low BP might suggest right sided heart pressures elevated (unlikely due to ASD particularly if successful repair as a child).  Need to rule out calcification and thickening of the pericardium (constrictive pericarditis) which can sometimes occur decades after surgery when there is a " large amount of scar tissue on heart".  A cardiac ct and careful echo doppler.

Could be natural: There is naturally a small amount of fluid in the pelvis to keep organs moist but it could also happen from ovulation, inflammation, infection or cancer cells.

It depends: Your doctor should help you to interpret this finding. Normally we do not want to see free fluid in the abdomen. If you have it it needs to be followed up and rechecked in a couple of months to be sure it has resolved and that it is not increasing. Follow it up with your doctor.

Ascites: Is not normal.  But sometimes you have a little bit of fluid in the abdomen.   You might need to consult a liver specialist and ask them.  You do not want to have unexplained ascites.

Fluid: It depends on the amount of fluid and how it was seen.  A small amount of peritoneal fluid is normal. Its location and consistency (if sampled) determines the cause. Please provide more information on how the fluid was seen and your symptoms.  Thanks eagle!

Surgery: Little fluid is better than much fluid in case of ascitis. I don't think the risk of the surgery is higher in case of small fluid volume in the abdominal cavity vs. Large fluid volume. In fact, it's more risky to have it done when the belly is tight and big.

besides keep sucking out the fluid from abdomen for ascites patient, what could be a better treament? chemo tried and failed, she has mesothelioma.

A Shunt may help: Ascites can be drained into the venous system with the help of a peritoneal-Subclavian shunt, which is better way to manage this problem than draining it outside via suction catheter. Ask you oncologist to consult a Surgical Oncologist who is familiar with this procedure what has been available for many years.

i have post appendectomy fluid in abdomen, it got inflamed after antibiotics treatment, everything was fine, i'm experiencing mild symptoms again advic?

Could be abscess : It is unusual to develop fluid after a straightforward appendectomy but it can happen. The fluid should be drained with a needle under ct or ultrasound guidance to make sure it is all removed.

Complicated: There are several reasons to have ascites. The first could be liver failure from various reasons , including alcoholism, drug toxicity etc. could be right heat failure or generized edema from kidney failure . Continue follow-up with your doctor. Fluid should be removed to help with diagnosis and give you relief.

Ovary?: You mentioned the appendix but not the ovary. I would ask your physician what he things about the ovaries. Ultrasound may be useful to clarify.
