Fluid: It depends on the amount of fluid and how it was seen. A small amount of peritoneal fluid is normal. Its location and consistency (if sampled) determines the cause. Please provide more information on how the fluid was seen and your symptoms. Thanks eagle!

Several possibilites: The most common causes of fluid in the abdomen are liver disease, kidney disease, and heart disease. But in a young person inflammation (irritation) of an abdominal organ is a possibility and in women a ruptured ovarian cyst is on the list as well.
