Don't worry: One person in four has a lone kidney cyst, or maybe a few.  If the radiologist is confident that it is a simple cyst, don't worry about it. It's a total non-problem.  If it gets too big or you can feel it, you can have a needle put into it and have the fluid removed under ultrasound guidance.

hi doctors. i have a complex renal cyst with one papilla along with two simple cysts. complex cyst was simple a yeat ago. should i or if i should not get a cat scan for the complex cyst with the papilla now, or monitor and recheck in 3 to 6 months?

: You can choose either option. If the complex cyst is confirmed with repeated US in 3 months, there is still time for CT scan with IV contrast at that time even if malignant lesion is suspected because malignant lesion of the kidney progresses slowly in general. Size of the questionably complex cyst is also helpful &amp; a cyst of less than 2 cm can be safely rechecked in 3 months.

I'm confused: I would love to point you in the right direction.  I dont know why you need a ct.  Sounds like they have problems placing a Foley catheter and you were obstructed.  You need to be seen by a urologist.

Excretion is normal.: The kidneys excrete (produce, emit) urine under normal circumstances. When you have a CT scan, the contrast ('dye') you were given through your vein is excreted along with the urine from the blood stream. The 'dye' outlines your kidneys, ureters, and bladder (your 'plumbing') for the radiologist. to see.

Hyperdense cyst: On noncontrast CT scans, most simple kidney cysts look very dark or hypodense because the fluid inside of them is just like water.  A hyperdense cyst looks much lighter or brighter compared to the kidney itself.  This usually just means that there is high protein in the cyst or that the cyst has bled at some point.
