is mucoid plaque real? i read a lot of doctors saying its not real. 3 days of metamucil and passing loads of what some are calling  mucoid plaque. if its not real, whats coming out of me?

: I think what you call "mucoid plaque" is in fact created by the mixing of psyllium (main ingredient of metanucil) with water in the GI tract which will help the bowel movement.

Very good: Chelation is one of the best things to do for arterial plaque.

Accepted Answer

Yes and no.: It really depends on how you look at.  It is possible to brush your teeth as effectively as battery powered brushes, however, brushes like the sonicare do most of the work for you.  Plus, they can motivate you to brush more regularly than a with a standard toothbrush, which is always better in my book.

Personal preference: There are different types of floss... waxed or unwaxed, thin or tape, even really thick floss for periodontal spaces. Someone's mouth can have different needs between different teeth, so you may need more than one type to get the job done correctly. Experiment a bit and have your periodontist or their hygienist guide you.

Plaque : Is a biofilm that forms on teeth that aren't being properly brushed. Bacteria in the plaque can cause cavities and or help the build up of tartar which will cause gum disease.

3 ways: Flossing or using inter-dental aids will remove plaque from between your teeth. Brushing properly with a soft brush will then remove most remaining plaque, which is a soft adherent layer of bacteria and proteins. Tartar or calculus is a hardened deposit that often results from poor plaque removal that will need to be removed professionally at a dental office.

Atherosclerosis: Narrowing or 'hardening of the arteries' seems like the body's way of planned obsolescence--or complete wearing out.  Over time our arteries become more narrow and certain conditions speed up the process: smoking, diabetes (and overweight/metabolic syndrome), hi blood pressure, and hi cholesterol.  Exercise can slow down the process.  Plaque build up in arteries leads to heart attack and strokes.

Family practice : As we age our arteries develope small cracks on its walls. Many things can speed up this process. Smoking , diabetes, hypertension  and family history. Cholesterol comes along and tries to patch these areas up. Over time it justs builds up. If we have a high cholesterol or triglyceride the build up is faster. So it is important to correct all those factors to help prevent stroke and heart attack.

Use Denture Cleanser: Soak in a denture cleanser.  If the retainer has metal on it, then use a denture cleanser that is safe for partial dentures.
