Unrelated: Asbestos exposure is not associated with thyroid disease.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Smokers higher risk: The risks are greater for asbestos exposure problems in people who are also smokers, and of course in people who are inhaling fibers on a regular basis due to their work. No: Asbestos exposure is usually from it falling from above you and you inhaling it.  This seems unlikely, if not impossible, in the scenario you have presented.

It does not: Your blanket may seem old to you, but blankets from 20-years ago do not have asbestos.

Pretty low: For asbestos to be a health risk small fibers have to be generated into the air. Most of the asbestos in floor tile and glues is fairly stable, and only become hazardous when those are being broken up for removal. If there are concerns for how much is getting into the air sampling should be done by a certified testing company.

i worked as an electrician for about 6 years. the vast majority of it was in new construction, however some of it was in old homes. attics, crawl spaces, etc. could i be at risk for health problems considering the possibility of asbestos exposure?

: Did you wear a mask to protect yourself from breathing in asbestos fibers? How often were you in these older homes and do you know for sure there was asbestos present? These are all questions that would be helpful to know to figure out what your exposure likely was. said it tore some but came off easily.worried sick?

Worry doesn't help: Are you feeling unwell? Do you have a cough? Are you short of breath? There is no way to assure you without knowing your symptoms and checking for signs of asbestos related disease. However, worrying won't help, it will only make you sick. So try not to worry.
