Yes: The length of time between exposure to asbestos and developing mesothelioma is many decades, as long as 30-40 years later! so patients exposed in the 70s are now presenting with meso. As asbestos exposed americans decrease, the numbers of meso patients are likely to decrease as well. But asbestos is still used extensively in the developing world so it will be with us for a long time.
