my mri read benign shotty lymph node nodules in both right and left groin, what does this mean?

Don't Worry: Shotty lymph nodes mean slightly enlarged lymph nodes that have responded to a source of infection below the level of the nodes, usually in the legs. If they are tender, it means there is an active infection going on, which you should look for and treat. If you feel the lumps and they are not tender, it means that the infection has likely cleared up. It is not a source of worry.

2 mnth ago submandibular lymph node swollen and tender 2.5cm. now it's 1-1.5cm for awhile. not fixed painless. is it shotty? should i leave it alone?

Yes: Allergic rhinitis is an inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa and therefore can give rise to regional lymphadenopathy (swollen glands).  This is the body's defense mechanism in walling off an inflammatory disease.

have a small shotty lymph node on right side of neck back area. probably from a skin biopsy done right next to it. ent said it was not worrisome. how long do shotty lymphnodes stay  shotty ?

: Lymph nodes in the neck &amp; back of the head are often more noticeable because they are not buried within fat or deep tissues. They are generally pea sized at rest &amp; enlarge when working. Skin irritation, URI's, throat infections, etc commonly trigger transient enlargement for weeks at a time.  They are always there whether you notice or not. Less than ~ 1 cm I never worry about.

kidney stones since i was 10. ct shows multiple stones greater in right with shotty retroperitoneal lymph nodes. will stones cause lymph node problem?

LIkely unrelated: Shotty or mildly enlarged retroperitoneal lymph nodes noted on ct is a non-specific and not uncommon finding and usually of no clinical significance in an otherwise healthy person. Otherwise, causes include infection, inflammation, and malignancy. Unless you have had recent or recurrent episodes of painful stone passage with associated inflammation, i suspect the two findings are unrelated.

i am having laser tattoo removal on the back of my neck. i had my first session two weeks ago , its healing very well however i noticed a round hard painful lump at the base of my skull back of neck. swollen lymph node??

: You are likely correct. Any disturbance of the skin surface as would be in tattoo removal may trigger enlargement of local nodes that can persist for a few weeks.

how much time is lymph node removal for biopsy?

Depends on location: Superficial nodes that are easily palpated etc..Can be biopsied more easily and quickly compare to deeper ones such as deep in chest or axillary area etc...Deep nodes/internal nodes such as those in chest are often just biospied and not removed--they do have important functions so don't remove unless you have to..Consult your doc..Good luck..

will the  removal of a whole lymph node have a long-term effect on my health/ quality  of life?

Usually not: If it is not complete or near complete lymphadenectomy.  And even then it is not that common, unless it is followed by radiation therapy to the area.  A diagnostic biopsy or removal of an enlarged lymph node will have little to no effect.  However, once you develop lymphedema of arm or leg, it is a difficult condition to treat.

Risky activities: Lymph nodes monitor the status of the lymph which contains white cells that have eaten bacteria, viruses, etc and digested food too thick to go into the arteries/veins. Are delicate structures that when removed may reduce lymph flow.  Further damage can occur if their area is further traumatized with unmonitored exercise and massage.  Your surgeon is the best guide to what to do , how soon/often.
