hives or bites?last 2weeks some days i get few itchy bumps here and there (appearance is like mosquito bites but no visible insect). after a few hours swelling of bump fades but a red pimple stays for 4-6 days. i usually get 1-4/day at random areas?

: Are there mosquitos around where u live then most likely skeeters. Slso consider fleas from cats or dogs.  A picture is worth 1,000 words.  As is a video telehealth visit here.  Better yet show to folks have live were you live and see what the say they look like.

Accepted Answer

Chest papules: Really the treatment would depend on the diagnosis.  Try a exfoliative cleanser or topical such as lachydrin (lactic acid) lotion and antibacterial cleanser.  If this does not help you may need to see someone to get a definitive diagnosis.

just took a shower and after drying off noticed a small patch of whitehead looking bumps on shaft. kinda itchy. bumps were not there prior to shower.

May be blocked sweat: this may be blocked  sweat glands. The heat from the shower may have made your body sweat but since the glands were blocked you see little whiteheads. Ask your physician to help confirm this.

Unlikely: sounds more like a folliculitis, which is inflammation or possible infection of hair follicles in the skin. See Your Derm: See your dermatologist.  You may need a mild retinoid (tretinoin) to keep you from breaking out, at least for a few months.  This will likley pass uneventfully.  However, there could be another cause for this type of breakout.  Your dermatologist can help you with this frustrating flare.

Probably not: Several rashes can resemble acne (rosacea, contact allergic dermatitis, infections, eczema, etc). Acne & rosacea typically do not itch. You might have an allergy to something applied or coming in contact with your face. Wash & moisturize with products like cerave or cetaphil. Minimize what you put on your face, use only fragrance-free products if any, & consider seeing a dermatologist.

Accepted Answer

Allergy: It's possible that the serum in the original bite contained material that caused additional allergic reactions in the surrounding skin. Have you applied cortisone type cream to the rash? Taking an antihistamine like benadryl(may cause drowsiness) will also help the reaction and the itch. If redness and burning appear you may be developing cellulitis which requires antibiotic medication and cream.
