In moderation: Rosuvastatin is a cholesterol lowering drug, and like all "statins" they do metabolize through the liver, as does alcohol.  Caution should be used for this reason, and liver function tests should be monitored periodically.  Drink responsibly and use common sense.  Do not drink in excess ever, and especially while on a statin drug.  Good luck.

Biologic agents: Cimzia (certolizumab pegol) works in the same way that Humira or Remicade does - it blocks an inflammatory protein called tumor necrosis factor.  One may work better than another for any one person.

i am taking rosuvas ez 10 for last two years.  my cholesterol and triglycerides are now in normal range. can i lower my statin dosage or discontinue?

Likely not: Cholesterol meds do not "cure" a problem, but rather help to manage it.  Hence, the effect of the meds will go away when the medicine is stopped.  Lifelong exercise, good nutrition and often medicine will be necessary.  How high the numbers were and how low they went with treatment can help guide your md to adjust dosing if necessary.

i have hocm doctors suggest a icd but is there a way to avoid it my echo gradient is 35 to 40% at present i am on selokene 50 twice daily and rosuvus?

HOCM: If there's a family incidence of sudden death or if your heart is very thick we generally recommend an icd. Likewise if theres a history of syncope or serious arrhythmia. Discuss the reasons for the recommendation with your doctor who knows you and your situation.

Safe, sure: Theyre safe but the risk of side effect goes up when they're combined. The crestor (rosuvastatin) is likely far more important than the lipicard unless his or her triglycerides are markedly abnormal (like well over 500).

i am male 49yr bmi 27 height 173cm. i lost weight from 84 to 80kg in one yr. my triglyceride went up from 250 to 375.  i am on 5gm rosuvas. pls advise?

Need different med: Triglycerides are not significantly lowered with statin medications like rosuvastatin.  Fish oil 2 gm twice daily and Niacin are better for lowering the triglycerides in addition to dietary changes and exercise.  Stay away from saturated fats like butter, eat more olive oil/canola oil. Stay away from fried food and consider getting tested for diabetes and hypothyroidism which can raise levels also.
