i keep on having red rashes and it spreads in my body whenever i scratch it. previous doctor told me it's urticaria. what's the best thing should i do?

Dermatographic: This can best be controlled with an antihistamine- if the rash only occurs with scratching.  If they are raised without having been scratched, then they are hives which likewise can usually be controlled with antihistamne 2-4 x daily.

Hives?: These appear to be hives (urticaria).  Try antihistamine up to 4x daily  to see if it helps.  If they are intolerable  or linger on beyond 6 weeks, consult an allergist.

Dermatitis: This may be neurodermatitis or a form of exzema,but a dermatologist is best qualified to diagnose and treat your rash. In the meantime you could try applying a corticosteroid cream which won't be as strong as a prescription type,however.

Poison ivy: You cannot spread poison ivy rash by scratching.  Poison ivy is a haptin meaning a small molecule.  It must bind skin tissue to form an allergic reaction.  Once it binds to skin, poison ivy does not come off so it can not be transferred to you or another person. Poison ivy rash is contracted by contact with the oil, urushiol.

Gosh!: This sounds concerning for impetigo, a bacterial skin infection caused by streptococcus bacteria. It is easily treated with antibiotic ointments or pills if it is wide spread. Contact allergy: Can't say for sure - two clues. Itching (histamine-mediated which often implies allergen) and spreads with scratching (often a substance that is carried on the fingers). Poison oak, ivy and sumac are the archetypical contact allergens; there are hundreds of others. Treat with gentle soap and water wash and cleaning everything which contacts it. Antihistamines and over the counter steroids optional.

Folliculitis: Infected hair follicle due to improper care may cause secondary bacterial infection with normal flora, such as Staphylococcus.  Swelling and spread of erythematous rash as indicative of underlying cellulitic infection.  Consultation your physician for proper evaluation and treatment.
