is mrsa a rare strain of bacteria?

MRSA: MRSA is methicillin resistant staph aureus. It is not as rare as it used to be. Due to over utilization of antibiotics, 
many harmless bugs became smarter and figured how to stay alive despite taking powerful antibiotics. The only way to know you may have it, is to be tested with a swab. If it's positive, the patient needs to be on a different antibiotic such as a sulfur compound. Be careful.

: Bacteria in blood, rare or not, is a very abnormal finding and it is called bacteremia, a life threatening condition. I ain't sure if you get the report correctly because lab usually does not report rare bacteria with blood culture and it is extremely rare to see a lab report which shows rare bacteria in blood smear but it is possible and if it's true this patient has severe bacteremia. Take care.

in my urinalysis my bacteria 1 came back as rare and my mucous came back as few. they were both flagged, what does that mean?

Nothing: Depending on your symptoms- some would read this as negative. I would look at the Nitrites and the Leukocytes to help me determine appropriate management. If both arer negative, I wouldn't treat with antibiotics. Good luck!

May need repeat test: A small number of bacteria may be found in the urine of many healthy people. This is usually considered to be harmless. However, a certain level of bacteria can mean that the bladder, urethra, or kidneys are infected. You have elevated epithelial cell count and it is probably due to contamination of the specimen. Your clinical findings has to correlate with the lab findings to have a meaning.

: Both are entirely normal.

Nothing: If it is a urine test it doesn't mean much.  Squamous epithelial cells are from your urethra which can come out with your urine.  Rare bacteria is just that rare.  If you have symptoms see your doctor.

Many: A number of bacterial and viral illnesses affect the heart.  They include myocarditis, pericarditis, endocarditis, myocardial abscess and post streptococcal rheumatic fever.  They are caused by a wide variety of bacteria and viruses.

Urine tests: Often urine tests are contaminated by the bacteria and cells from around the vaginal area which can result in those type of findings.   Unless you are having symptoms of a urinary tract infection, it is unlikely that rare bacteria and rare wbcs suggest anything.  If in doubt, you can always repeat the urinalysis.

Probable UTI: These urinalysis findings suggest you may have a urinary tract infection. Discuss with your doctor, including possible antibiotic treatment.

i just got some pathology back from a cyst aspiration. exact words "colorless cloudy/ gram stain no bacteria observed rare neutrophils/ culture result no growth after 3 days." can you please help me interpret, esp. the rare neutrophils part? thanks?

: These are normal for a cyst aspirate that is not infected.  Rare means there are not a lot of neutrophils.  Maybe one every other microscopic field depending on the definition by the pathologist who read the gram stain. Many neutrophils would indicate an infection.  So a good report that you must discuss with your Drs.
