Radiculopathy and ne: It seem you have failed the standard treatments. Neuromodulation would be the next option and this could be Peripheral or Spinal. Have a chat with your doctor.

There : There are many treatments for l5-s1 disk disease including physical therapy, medications, steroid injections and surgery.  You should see a spine pain doctor and spine surgeon to determine the best treatment for your disk problem.  Good luck!

: Back surgery is indicated if spine unstable, pain intolerable and unresponsive, progressive weakness and muscle atrophy, bladder dysfnctn.  But most of the time, this symptom complex can be handled with physical therapy, exercise, and stretching.

Pinched nerve: A radiculopathy is the malfunctioning of a nerve root. This can be caused by many conditions such as a disc protrusion, tumor, trauma, inflammation or bony narrowing compressing the nerve root.  Often this term is confused with ruptured disc which can cause a radiculopathy

It's great that you: Are feeling better.  You didn't mention whether it was the neck or low back that was affected, but nevertheless, there is a lot of stress with driving even for people without a radiculopathy.  Any neck or low back twisting, bending and turning motions that may occur with driving can cause irritation of the nerve exiting from the spinal cord causing your symptoms to flare up.

Basically yes: Radiculitis refers to inflammation of a nerve root itself.  Radiculopathy refers to the symptoms that occur along the distribution of that nerve because of the inflammation.

Translation ?: Sounds like an EMG result.  The EMG can determine whether there has been nerve damage for 0-3, 3-6 or more than 6 months.  Chronic damage refers to weakness or numbness lasting more than 6 months, radiculopathy refers to where the damage is located- e.g. the nerve root.  Normally it is a nerve root from the neck or the lower back which affects an arm or a leg, respectively.  Hope that helps.
