Stress: Frequent pvc's can decrease the cardiac out put and lower BP which can make you feel bad. If you avoid caffeine, cultivate a good night sleep, meditate and relax, eat a healthy diet, take enough vit d3, and walk or move frequently through the day  you might feel better. It is a wake up call to move towards better health.

Uncommon: PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) are beats that originate from the ventricles. An occasional single PVC can certainly be seen in normal hearts. Couplets (two pvcs in a row) r unusual, especially if frequent. They can be seen in a normal hearts. Nonetheless, I would recommend a noninvasive workup (ECG, echo. 24 hour monitor, and stress test) to be sure everything is ok. Good luck.

: If the PVC's have a LBBB pattern they are emanating from the dilated right ventricle. This may be potentially dangerous arrythmogenic  right ventricular cardiomyopathy.  Even though you're not experiencing many 
PVC's, multiform PVC's are considered more dangerous than uniform PVC's. I strongly recommend that you be evaluated &amp; followed by a cardiologist electrophysiologist for best advice &amp;care

ive had echo, stress test, multiple holters as well as full bloods done. have had lots of pvcs for years. been recently having multi focal pvcs and couplets. is this normal? considering i have a structurally normal heart?

Accepted Answer

: Normal structural heart does not rule out problem with conduction system. If hormonal imbalance is ruled out, a trial of beta blocker should be considered if you are symptomatic with this arrhythmia. If you have not seen an electrophysiologist (EP cardiologist), you should see one if feasible.

what could cause heart rate to jump to 262 bpm for a brief time? i took a quick ecg reading (kardia) and it showed a sharp increase in hr on the graph. pvcs and couplets shown on ecg as well. could noise cause this?

: As a non-cardiologist, I would recommend you see a cardiac specialist, as you might indeed have a cardiac arrhythmia, such as Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia.  Perhaps a Holter monitor will reveal answer.  Will refer to appropriate experts here at HT.

Several points.: Arrhythmias can be caused by medications like digoxin or theophylline.  You may also consider high doses of caffeine as a possible cause.  Your doctor should check a complete panel of electrolytes to rule out an abnormality particularly in the potassium level.  Of course, ischemia is something that definitely should be ruled out and is less likely with a normal stress test.

Probably normal: Occasional PVCs and couplets once were considered a risk for more serious arrhythmias and sudden death. We now know this isn't true except at much higher numbers (like 20,000 PVCs daily). (I speak from both professional and personal experience.) 7 PVCs per day is a very low number, far fewer than in most healthy people. Probably all is well, but speak with cardiologist or the clinic to confirm.

at the er for chest pain hospital monitor says couplet pvcs amd sv rhythm. what does sv rhythm mean? and are couplet pvcs dangerous?

Not necessarily: SV="supraventricular rhythm" which is normal. 
PVCs are "extra beats" that sometimes lead to the feeling of a thump or irregular heart beat. 
By themselves, extra PVCs or couplets of PVCs are not dangerous. Some people get them when they drink caffeine or smoke cigarettes. They aren't an indicator of a heart attack, but if they happen during a heart attack, they can be a sign of impending problem

what are my chances of having a sudden cardiac arrest death? normal echo. but have lots of couplets, pvcs and sinus pauses.

Probably very low: But a lot depends on family history of sudden death and any more malignant arrythmias.
You may want to have an event monitor placed and get an excercise treadmill test even though you are still youmg this is to look at any excercise induced arrythmias you may develop..
Many young people have arrythmias that resolve as you get older.
