Giardia: The risk of humans acquiring Giardia infection from dogs or cats is small. The exact type of Giardia that infects humans is usually not the same type that infects dogs and cats. The usual pet shots have nothing to do with Giardia.

Puppies can be easily dewormed.

Likely safe: The protective benefit of the rabies vaccine is expected to last for at least 2 years from the time you complete the series. If your exposure is within that time frame you are likely protected. Be aware that there are several other potential germs that can cause an infection from a bite, and close monitoring is advised.

Family practice : If you are due yes you should. Keep your wounds clean. Animal bites even if playful can get infected. Try to avoid bites, don't encourage him.

Probably not.: Fooling with un-vaccinated animals, that could be carrying rabies, is not a good idea.

No: You can&#x27;t catch rabies from an animal unless it is also affected. Licking is unlikely to transmit the virus in any case. It would be a sad world indeed for pet owners if being licked put their owners in danger. House animals don&#x27;t just carry rabies, but must acquire it (say, being bitten by a wild animal); most are immunized in any case.

Is your puppy: up to date with his immunizations? Rabies vaccine are only necessary with bites that are high risk for transmission of Rabies. A scratch on the skin by your own puppy that can be observed if at all necessary, hardly qualifies. You would not of course keep a rabid dog as a pet?   Visit with a vet to secure his health and enjoy your puppy!
