Frozen shoulder: ligament tear is a possibility the other common causes are tendonitis  around the shoulder joint. If the movements are limited then MRI in different positions would help

i'm having crepitus and grinding over my shoulder blades over a year now. i never had injury, had pt but didn't work. what is it?

Accepted Answer

Arthritis: The presence of crepitus and grinding in a joint such as a shoulder is usually indicative of arthritis.  There may also be some ligimant damage as well.  A MRI would provide more information.  Generally PT will help with strength and range of montion, but when PT fails the usual last resort is surgery.

Shoulder Hemiarthrop: While strength can certainly improve, it is unlikely to return to normal after a hemiarthroplasty.

how long does it takes a frozen shoulder to be fixed with pt?

8-16 months: Whether you participate in physical therapy or not, a frozen shoulder can take up to a year and a half to resolve. The initial inflammation may not last long, but the stiffness can. Forcing the shoulder to move too early does not necessarily speed up recovery. Sometimes, the frozen shoulder is associated with rotator cuff tears or repairs, which is a different situation altogether.

will labra tear on shoulder that is detached heal with phyiscal thearpy? 6 weeks of pt with slight improvement. surgery suggested.

It depends: How well it heals depends  on many factors, including how bad the tear  was, your shoulder health  prior to the injury, and how well  you comply with the rest and  PT program.  They do take a long time to heal.  If they do not heal, significant strength and movement restrictions and  pain may occur.

slap repair 10 weeks ago. shoulder catches during pt. plus some freezing. possible that there was something missed? os is re scoping in few weeks

Maybe didn't heal: A second look arthroscopy as you describe will look for healing or missed problems.  If the labrum is healed, and the anchors are intact, then the freezing and catching is likely due to scar tissue.  If the repair did not take or and anchor is loose, then the repair will likely be revised.

diagnosed with scapular dyskenisis, got through pt, but my shoulder pain never went away and is getting worse. what can i do to help this?

Scapular Dyskinesis: can be caused or complicated by an internal injury to the shoulder (such as rotator cuff or labral tear or AC joint separation). While physical therapy is an integral part of treatment, there may also be an underlying shoulder injury which needs to be addressed. An MRI would be useful to see whether you have an internal injury causing your dyskinesis and increasing pain.

Complicated: Shoulder is very complicated structure & x-rays & mri's are ineffective for visualizing most soft tissues therein. Most reliable instrument is doctor who interviews in-depth  about mechanism of injury/repetitive stress,   & exam must be with your shirt off.  All tissues must be prodded, stressed & moved through their range of motion to detect pain generator. See an osteopath or physiatrist.

Shoulder Bursitis: Most likely you have shoulder bursitis. Try using tylenol, (acetaminophen) ibuprofen, ice. Physical therapy can help.

had noninvasive procedure done to repair a labrum and 80% full thickness tear in my right shoulder 6 months ago i completed pt but i'm still limited?

Accepted Answer

PT again.: Assuming there’s no new pathology in that shoulder since the surgery, such as post-traumatic arthritis or adhesive capsulitis, it wouldn’t to double-down on physical therapy.  Sometimes you just need more physical therapy to reap continued benefit.
