S/he will need to know about other medical illnesses you've had, other medications you've been on, personal history, use of substances, family history, etc.  There may be tests of thinking. All this is to understand what's causing you distress, in order to treat the problem.

Please consult your family physician for referral to a psychiatrist with whom your physician has worked with.
Also speak with your family members and friends about their satisfaction with the  psychiatrist they have seen. Then make your decision.

Lots depression tx: Depression symptoms respond to: exercise/ behavioral activation, sleep hygiene, mindfulness activities, increased social support, lowered relationship conflicts, increased spiritual connections, developing meaningful purpose in life.  Psychotherapy is equally effective to medications, and can complement meds,  i.e., interpersonal & cognitive-behavioral therapy provided by licensed clinicians.

i saw a phyciatrist for depression and he gave me pills when i went again i felt different and he was confused why? why was he so surprised?

Ask: Not sure, it is probably better to pose your question to the psychiatrist. Keep an open line of communication with your physician always. If you have a question, then please ask it rather then go home and think about it on your own. Things, including a surprised look can be interpreted differently then it was initially meant. Ask.

Your problems could be related to illnesses such as thyroid disorders or infections like Lyme disease, so it's reasonable to see someone who can assess everything, If issues are psychiatric they can start treatment.

Psychiatrist: It does seem to me that if you're already taking two other heavy-duty mental-health medications, adding a third to shooze may not be the best idea. I generally trust psychiatrists on when and when not to use these powerful meds, but if you yourself do not, or your primary care physician has expressed reservations, then you may be doing yourself a service by getting another opinion.

Yes: Trichotillomania, or compulsive hair pulling, is a form of obsessive compulsive disorder. The best treatment for OCD is a combination of serotonin boosting meds, like prozac, (fluoxetine) and cognitive behavioral therapy. Usually, in OCD spectrum disorders, a higher dose of Prozac (fluoxetine) will be necessary ultimately but your doctor is right to start you on a low dose so that you can get used to it.

how long does it take to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a psyciatrist for an adolescent?

Depends on Severity: The time it takes to make a diagnosis can depend on several things, but one of the primary factors has to do with the severity of symptoms that are consistent with bipolar disorder. Usually, more severe cases are easier to diagnose than more subtle or unclear situations. A lot of this can also have to do with the information available to the psychiatrist in terms of background information.
