: There is no contraindication of Propafenone in chronic kidney disease although one of its adverse effect is renal dysfunction but the incidence is quite low. If you use it and kidney function gets worse significantly, it should be discontinued.

Yes: Side effects attributed to Propafenone include hypersensitivity reactions, lupus-like syndrome, agranulocytosis, CNS disturbances such as dizziness, lightheadedness, gastrointestinal upset, a metallic taste and bronchospasm. About 20% of patients discontinued the drug due to side effects.

To : To be on the safe side, because of the medications you are taking which could affect heart rhythm, please see your cardiologist or internist and have an ekg taken.

If you have recurrent symptoms, vomiting, headache, chest pain, or new symptoms then go to the er immediately.

Not that I know of.: It is  an anti-arrhythmic medication. Anxiety is a potential side effect of Propafenone. Maybe some other Healthtap doctors are familiar with using it off label for this purpose.

: I answered your previous question, propafenone can cause renal dysfunction but it is so rare that I have not seen one case in my practice. Serum creatinine and GFR fluctuate with your volume and mean arterial pressure. I only advise to stop this antiarrhythmic drug if serum creatinine increases 25% above the baseline or GFR drops 25% from the baseline, i.e. I will stop it if GFR drops below 30.

Good question!: Thank you for being alert and asking this question! You should NOT take these 2 drugs together because of the risk of QT prolongation which can lead to Torsades de pointes tachycardia, a dangerous rhythm disturbance. Call your doctor and ask to be switched to a different antibiotic. Do not take the Azithromycin.

Same: Both drugs are equally effective in PSVT and neither of them causes hypotension like beta blockers. Which one is a matter of personal choice by the prescribing physician and tolerance by the patient
