i had a partial thyroidectomy in 03, i had my 2nd child in 05, my levels have been off an i've gained a lot of weight. how can i correct this problem?

Hypothyroidism: See you primary care doctor for blood test to confirm your under active thyroid condition. Prescription of thyroid replacement hormone pill will correct the problem!

Not likely: If you are having problems related to the size of your thyroid, such as choking symptoms, trouble swallowing or breathing, then thyroidectomy might help.  If you are hypothyroid, your thyroid does not function well. Taking it out will not change that. Most people with hypothyroidism do not need to have their thyroid removed.

over the last 5 months my hair went from curly to straight. 1y8 months since thyroidectomy and rai. i wonder if it has anything to do w/my problem?

Straight hair: Your change form curly hair is not likely to be related to your thyroid but check that with your doctor.
I am confident you look just as beautiful with straight hair as with curly hair.

i have been dizzy for three years since thyroidectomy. i now have many problems with colds and sinus problems. is it all related?

Persistent sinus: problems, dizziness and colds   may indicate Allergies
due to something in your environment. Most common are dust mites, molds, animal or pollen , etc  So a consult with an allergist may help.
The thyroid surgery probably has no relation to it  if your are monitoring your TSH and dose of Thyroxine. Best wishes.

having a total thyroidectomy on tuesday for gd but ptu (propylthiouracil) has caused low t4/ft3 (ft3 0.8) i know i can't have the surgery hyper but is hypo a problem?

Thyroid replacement: Once your thyroid has been removed, you will need thyroid replacement to normalize your metabolic function  since you will no longer produce any thyroid hormones. Let your doctor guide you through the dose adjustment process.

i had a complete thyroidectomy  two months ago. what is the mean starting dose for thyroid supplements?  i  have problems with low body temperature.

Depends on health: Healthy individuals are frequently started at 100 mcg of levothyroxine.  Don't use armour thyroid.  Less healthy individuals might be started at 50 mcg .  The level is then checked every 6 to 8 weeks, as it takes quite a while to make a change, and stabilize. The medication is increased by 50 to 100 mcg at a time . Levothyroxine should be taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 after a meal.

could there be a bigger problem? gallbladder removal, ibs, total thyroidectomy, fibroid on my uterus, and now extreme rectal bleeding. i'm 22. help!

Go to ER: Any extreme bleeding usually means a serious problem.  Since you are sitting at a computer emailing it is doubtful that it is extreme and it may be a minor rectal tear or hemorrhoid if there is bright red blood.  You may need help with anxiety after getting the rectal bleeding under control.

Thyroid and weight: Appropriate treatment soon after thyroidectomy (surgical removal of the thyroid) should include thyroid hormone replacement.  This should provide adequate amount of thyroid hormone so that there should be no impact on weight.

Why thyroidectomy?: Hi. Was it thyroid cancer? Most likely reason for total thyroidectomy. Best diet: healthy one! Whole grains, nuts, legumes, fruits &amp; veggies, healthy oils (canola &amp; olive), lean meats, nonfat dairy; little or no white flour, white rice, simple sugar, high fructose corn syrup.
