She doesn't to BMilk: Please do yourself and ur baby a huge favor for the rest of her life & continue to breastfeed.Human breast milk is the best thing u can do for ur baby.Assuming mom's nutrition is optimum.There are so many benefits, with the highest- developing baby's strong immune system, ability to digest and therefore have top nutrition&health, &equally important the bond you strengthen w/her that is priceless.

Not really: Ideally men should not drink more that 2 servings of alcohol / day; Women should limit alcohol to 1 serving / day.  Excessive alcohol can contribute to both gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) and an ulcer.  I would encourage you to limit your alcohol intake, and consider abstaining from it, depending on the diagnosis that led to your prescription for Prevacid.

how many prevacid (lansoprazole) otc can you take in a day? dr suspects acid reflux.  i think it's lpr trying a theory.

Max 2 per day...: and only for a short period of time without specific diagnosis. 7-10 day trial should show improvement if reflux.

Prevacid vs Nexium: In general, the answer is "yes." Both are Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs). Used sparingly, rather than long term, these PPIs are both effective for temporary relief of heartburn symptoms. It would be best to let your doctor know you are switching, if you decide to do so, so your medical record can be updated.

Prevacid (lansoprazole): Unfortunatley its very hard. You need to disolve and probably best to use a syringe. It is an unpleasant drug and babies tend to spit it up. Be sure its truly indicated. It also makes them irritable.

It usually does not: go away until you stop it.  Try Pepcid (famotidine) complete

Yes: Long term use of ppis such as Prevacid (lansoprazole) has been associated with an increase risk of pneumonia in the elderly and an increase risk of bone fracture in older women.  It can theorhetically cause malabsorption of b12, calcium and iron.  Supplimenting these is probably adequate to prevent these complications.  As always, you should discuss the risks and benefits of all medications with your doctor.

Prevacid (lansoprazole): Prevacid (lansoprazole) is  having effect for 24 hrs. Half life is 1.5 hrs.

i started taking plavix once a day and i also take prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion prilosec. is there any interactions with these drugs?

Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors.  Plavix is a prodrug(inactive) and is activated in the liver.  This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors.  Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis.  The only one safe to use is dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and possibly protonix. Or change plavix to effient or brilinta under guidance of MD

i'm currently taking 2 prevacid (lansoprazole) in the morning i also have a horrific headache which i now believe to be a migraine is it ok to take excedrin migraine?

Accepted Answer

It should be.: Excedrin contains aspirin, acetaminophen, and a significant amount of caffeine.  If you don't have a significant history of peptic ulcers or poorly controlled blood pressure you should be fine.  Be aware that frequent use of Excedrin will likely result in rebound headaches when you don't take it, i.e, caffeine withdraw headaches.  Cheers!
