i gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy and now struggling to lose the weight despite eating clean,attempts to reduce calories and exercise as the extra weight causes persistent foot pain. do i need to see a dietician or is my metabolism slow?

Count the calories: Use breastfeeding to burn up stored calories. One can get her pre-pregnancy weight back, and work out with weights to get in great shape again, but cannot truly get her "pre-pregnancy" body back. That is because a pre-pregnancy body is a different stage in a woman's life than a post-pregnancy body. Her primary care doctor can check for a hormonal imbalance, and check the foot issue too.

Aerobic exercises: Aerobic exercises are great for pregnancy -- walking, stair-machine, recumbent or upright bicycle, swimming, low-impact aerobics.  Clinical studies have also shown women who exercise have fewer problems with excessive weight gain during their pregnancies and also easier labors!

is it okay to do spa massage and foot massage during pregnancy ?

Generally yes: If they know you're pregnant. Check w/your OB before deciding. Early in pregnancy is safer than later.

Possible but unlikel: Unless it caused major internal damage to ovary, tube, or uterus, it is unlikly to affect future pregnancy.

Swelling: Swelling in the feet is a common problem of pregnancy. Physicians used to associate it with pre-eclampsia, but it occurs in too many women who don't have pre-eclampsia to be a sign of pre-eclampsia. It's probably caused by the increased blood volume and changes in the blood biochemistry that occur during pregnancy.

No problem...: Getting hit in the pubic area with a ball should have no effect on present or future pregnancies, because there is a big, strong bone (pubic bone) there that protects the bladder and uterus.

No: It's likely a blighted ovum.  If pregnancy has stopped growing you may need a d&c.

will foot x-ray affect pregnancy?

X rays and pregnancy: All pregnant females should avoid x ray exposure if possible.  If you need to have a foot x ray, first inform the doctor of your pregnancy to assure that the x ray is absolutely needed.  Be sure to wear a large protective x ray "apron".  Foot x ray exposure is minimal, but the developing fetus is more sensitive to radiation than are adults.

which cardio work outs are best to maintain fitness while recovering from a foot injury?

Non-Weight Bearing: Anything that will keep weight off of the foot.  Think swimming, rowing machines and cycling. Nothing weight bearing, such as walking, jogging, stair climbing, kickboxing aerobics.

with first pregnancy - would squatting or sitting on ball during last weeks of pregnancy help baby get in position for easier delivery? trying to avoid laying in bed but it's hard getting comfy in any opposition, sitting or laying down.

Possibly: Exercise is generally recommended unless there is a complication of pregnancy where your doctor placed you on restrictions. Many women feel comfortable using sitting on a Yoga ball. Some enjoy doing exercises like squats. If you enjoy these things and have not been restricted then you can continue
