Maybe: The most common cause of polyps is what we refer to as cholesterolosis, but it is true that gallbladder polyps can lead to cancer although very rarely. The recommendation of whether to have surgery depends on the ultrasound findings. However, since she is having pain that symptom alone may justify surgery and would take care of the gallbladder polyps at the same time.

what is the likelyhood of a sudden polyp in gallbladder being cancer after colon cancer in person with lynch syndrome?

Size: I know of no relation between lynch syndrome affecting the colon and the gallbladder. Gallbladder polyps are not a "sudden" condition. Small gallbladder polyps are observed & likely only represent cholesterolosis of the lining of the gallbladder. Gallbladder polyps of greater than 1 cm can be resolved with laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.

If appendicitis: ruled out and if you have history of ibs your doctor can blame pain on ibs since pcos , polyp in the gallbladder and enlarged kidney may not present pain and very tender belly as described by you. You can see an urgent care doctor or go to er if you feel that your diagnosis is not a correct one.

Stable polyps: In general, gallbladder polyps less than 1 cm that are stable in size over many years are of no concern and are left alone in the absence of symptoms.

Depends on symptoms: Gallbladder polyp can be observed with a repeat ultrasound in 3 to 6 months safely. Without stones, infection, or symptoms of biliary colic this is a fine option. Your doctor will help you decide if a surgery consult will be helpful.

Location: concepts are same ,  polyps ( adenomas ) if left alone with increase of size  of 2 cm or more most likely transform to adeno-carcinomas .  ( cancers ) Same in gall bladder , if size is increasing  during observation, removal of gall bladder is a better option.

Usually not: A polyp that small usually does not cause pain or problems. I would investigate other causes of pain and see a doctor to help with the workup. Good luck!

It is doubtful: It is good to recheck it in 2 months with an ultrasound. If it is benign it will remain same sized. if it increases in size,  your gall bladder needs to be removed

Accepted Answer

:  95% of gall bladder polyps are felt to be benign. Gall bladder polyps over 0.75 inches are recommended to be removed. Others are followed by 6 months to yearly ultrasounds to assure no growth  or malignant transformation. I always asked an abdominal surgeon to do the follow-up in my patients with gall bladder polyps.
