Maybe: The most common cause of polyps is what we refer to as cholesterolosis, but it is true that gallbladder polyps can lead to cancer although very rarely. The recommendation of whether to have surgery depends on the ultrasound findings. However, since she is having pain that symptom alone may justify surgery and would take care of the gallbladder polyps at the same time.
