i've recently been around people who were diagnosed the covid. i woke up this morning with a runny nose, severely plugged ear, cough, scratchy throat and some dizziness. allergies or covid?

: You should consider it Covid unless testing rules it out. You should isolate yourself for 10 days from the start of symptoms, if testing confirms it to be covid. If you develop breathing difficultly, go to a hospital.

Congestion: Hello, nasal congestion, eustachian tube blockage and runny nasal drainage may respond very well to a antihistamine decongestant combination. It sounds like an allergy induced rhinitis may be the root of the problem.

my left ear is plugged where i can't hear very good. i did have a head cold a week ago and this is what i have left. what to do what home remedy or drugstore cure for a plugged ear from a head cold or sinuses

Plugged : Plugged ears after a cold is very common.  This may be due to swelling of the eustachian tube so that the ear cannot equalize pressure or from direct inflammation of the middle ear.  If there is no active infection in the ear, then the best treatment is just waiting for it to recover.  Some people may get benefit from over-the-counter decongestants.  Your doctor may start a nasal steroid spray.  There is no proof that these speed recovery.  Unfortunately, symptoms can lst 2-3 months.  If there is persistent fluid in the middle ear past that time, an ear tube may need to be placed.

i have had a plugged ear for about one day from swimming all weekend.  can a blow dryer help remedy the problem?

Probably not: You probably need to have it checked - there are 3 possibilities - swimmer ear, wax impaction or infection behind the ear drum.  Drying the ear canal at this point with a blow dryer won't help.

Middle ear or sinus: This  could be otitis Media and Sinusitis or both. The  blood could be due to infection or even ruptured membranes. You can discuss thsi  with your physician and if necessary see ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) specialist.

Take Honey: Get Netflix. 
watch a funny movie, rest, relax.
Take honey - about one tsp 3x a day for the cough.
Drink green tea with lemon and honey - at least six glasses / day.
Green mucus suggest thick stale drainage, possible bacteria. Humming helps move the mucus. If persists, ask doctor about using Hydro Pulse Nasal/Sinus irrigator to remove stale phlegm and restore good cilia movement

Plugged ears: This is a great question and it really addresses  the normal anatomy of the nose and ears.  The middle ear and nose are directly connected by way of a tube called the eustachian tube.  When you blow your nose, air is forced into the nose and up the eustachian tube.  This will cause an increase in pressure in the middle ear, which will quickly dissipate with swallowing.

Labyrinthitis.: Congestion in the inner ear can lead to dizziness.  This is called labyrinthitis, wherein the inflammation within the inner ear affects the balance mechanism therein, causing episodes of dizziness.  Treating the allergies would make the dizziness go away.  Feels very much like vertigo.

i know you aren't suppose to blow your nose when you have a ruptured ear drum, but what if you do it with a ear plug in & hear a pop but can hear stil?

May delays healing: The reason nose blowing is discouraged is that the perforation heals from the outside in by the very thin inner and outer drum layers.  It is missing the tough central layer so if you were to force air into the ear from the nose it could blow the healing layers outward and prevent self repair even if there was an ear plug in place.  Over 90% will heal spontaneously.

Blocked eustachian: tube likely the issue. Afrin (oxymetazoline) or similar agent can be used short term to clear up the problem. If that does not work see the ENT doctor.
