Open lungs up: Atelectasis of lung means there is no air iin a portion of lung. This occurs if  a branch of the bronchi leading to that part of the lung is blocked by mucous/phlegm or even a foreign body (like an aspirated piece of food for example). Often use of cough, bronchodilators can open bronchi up and clear phlegm or a bronchoscope can be used to suction it out.

Pulmonologist: You don't mention why you had the chest ct scan. Linear atelectasis indicates lack of full expansion with a deep breath in those areas of the lung. They may represent scarring from old bronchopneumonia and there may be no active lung problems at this time. I think it's a good idea to have an evaluation by a pulmonologist to determine whether any other testing,treatment or follow-up is advisable.

Many: There are many things we would consider to treat atelectasis depending what causes it. However, once atelectasis occurs, the our job is to control your symptoms and slow down the progression of the diseases. If it's due to smoking, you should stop smoking. If it's due to frequent pneumonia you should see an immunologist and pulmonologist.

i had a collapsed lung 3 weeks ago, now again i have the pain in my back that i had before treatment, can it be the lung collapsing again, thank you?

Could be: Are you having trouble breathing, if so you may have a recurrence of spontaneous pneumothorax.  Visit your nearest emergency room and enroll in programs to help you quit smoking.  As long your you smoke , you will always be at risk for spontaneous pneumothoraces.

May be: Depends on cause. If the cause was direct puncture of lung during procedure, then it will not happen again. If it was, say a bleb, it could happen again.

: "Right basilar atelectasis" is a term for non-filling of the bottom portion of your right lung, and is not necessarily connected to a disease process.  If you have respiratory symptoms, fever, chills or cough, see your physician for an exam and further testing.

my post covid-19 chest ct has these two notes: bilateral scattered thin atelectasis and veiling densities rather post inflammatory sequel. no pulmonary consolidation, cavitation or masses demonstrated. do i need any medical treatment in this case?

: You have changes in your lungs that are likely from the inflammation associated with your Covid infection. You should see a lung doctor so that this CT scan can be reviewed and any symptoms you might be having can be evaluated. Treatment will depend on the whole clinical picture and a lung doctor would be the best person to evaluate and treat you, if needed. And, get a Covid vaccine if you haven’t

Lung collapse: Dont panic, we all have cells in lungs at times that are not fully open, when you get a patch together we can see that on xray. Can be from old scars, pneumonia or other things like copd, or lung disease. You should be surento do deep breathing exercises, big breath in amd hold as long as you can, that opens the cells back up, and if on breathing treatment regimen then do them faithfully.
