Variable: This can be vary greatly, and there's always a chance that some damage to the nerve might be permanent. Usually, improvement happens on the order of weeks to months. Some patients, however, notice near-immediate relief following surgery.

Varies: If you have not seen a doctor for evaluation, you should do it as soon as possible. The earlier the treatment, the chance of faster recovery is greater.

Usually if there is : Pain from a pinched nerve causing arm or leg pain that will usually resolve over time without any specific treatment and if there are neurologic symptoms they too usually resolve with the pain but they can also persist past the point of the pain ending with most getting better over weeks to months but sometimes there can be some permanency due to nerve damage which can be evaluated by emg.

See below: Digits 4 and 5 involve ulnar nerve, most of shoulder girdle involves upper brachial plexus (c-5, 6), triceps radial nerve or c-7, but you may be experiencing lower plexus issues, caused by thoracic outlet syndrome.  Worth exploring further, as diagnosis could lead to successful treatment.

pinched nerve 1yr ago/lost most of lft tricept..still have little feeling in 3 fingers..can i rebuild arm/& will numbness stop?

There is a chance: Since you are still able to feel it, the nerve is still functional. I am not sure if you already had injection/therapy, or nerve decompression surgery done yet. If you have not had the surgery, you may need this done to regain your tricep. Don't wait too long because the neuropathy (degeneration of the nerve) maybe irreversible. Consult doc. Good luck.

Thumb injury: A detailed history & physical exam often allows a physician to make the correct diagnosis. Repetitive activity including twisting & torquing may cause injury to the ligaments & tendons of the thumb such as de Quervain's tenosynovitis & ulnar collateral ligament injury. These conditions are often accompanied by pain during certain motions of the thumb. Unresolved symptoms should be evaluated by a dr.

Meds/PT vs surgery: Depending on the severity of your pinched nerve and symptoms, anti-inflammatory medications, and/or pain meds, physical therapy may help with your symptoms. If not adequate, epidural/nerve root injections may be considered. If still not controlled, you may need surgical decompression of the nerve affected. Consult your doc and ask about your options. Good luck.

i have had a pinched nerve in neck which caused pain in fingers/hands but now just my neck. does this mean it is getting better? my neck is worse now

Possibly: It is possible you are getting better.  A 'pinched' nerve may be due to disc herniation or bony spur, and it can 'settle down' after the initial inflammation resulting in resolution of the pain/numbness in the arm/hand.  This is ideal, allowing conservative management.  If there is ever any associated weakness in the arm, it is important to see neurologist/neurosurgeon as surgery may be needed.

Cold fingers: Many potential causes. Exam findings can lead doctors to suspect Carpel Tunnel Syndrome as a cause. If symptoms moderate, meds such as steroids or nsaids can help. Nighttime splinting, using an ergonomic keyboard, heat pads and stretching/yoga can also help.  Causes of isolated cold fingers can also include autoimmune diseases like lupus or Raynaud's, med or toxin effect, mycoplasma, or your EDS
