my back pain does not have anything to do with my spine, but is muscle related only. i have had it for 1.5 years and it will not go away. is there a way i can ever heal this? i have done physical therapy, but it has not really helped. thank you?

Yes: there are a few ways to strengthen your core and take some strain off of your low back joints and disks somewhat - usually the PT can help design core strengthening exercises for you to work on nand progress with over about 8 weeks - however, it is possible that PT in general can aggravate whatever the pain generator in the back is as well

Yes: Physical therapist are experts in helping patients recover from musculoskeletal injuries, strains, sprains, and surgery. Back pain, and specifically a thoracic muscle strain, is a classic and common injury for which physical therapy may be beneficial.

why wont my back pain go away? it is nothing bone related its all muscle related. been doing physical therapy for awhile and still have the same pain. i dont think an mri would do anything either not up for paying for that?

Muscle : Muscle spasms can sometimes be helped by muscle relaxant (like soma), trigger point injections (steroid medicine is injected into the muscles), facet joint injections (steroid injections in the facet joints in the rear of the spine), endoscopic rhizotomy (cutting nerves that cause pain and muscle spasms in the back) and epidural injections.  I would recommend consultation with an interventional pain doctor.  Please see my health guides on facet arthropathy and endoscopic rhizotomy.  Good luck!

A few treatments : Now try to learn stretching and McKenzie back exercises.  Might try swimming several times weekly.  RED CORD PT program if available

how long will it take for muscle mid back/low back pain to go away with physical therapy? im doing pt but its taking forever and my muscles feel like there is stuff on them that just stays which causes the pain. what could it be? scar tissue?

: What precipitated the pain? Was there traumatic injury? Depending on the underlying cause, improving muscle strength and flexibility can take weeks if not months. However, exercise and PT is an appropriate approach. You may take pain relief like, acetaminophen, no more than 4 g/day and no alcohol.

have a lump in back of neck just under my hairline and skull..going to physical therapy for it as a muscle spasm but feel it's not getting better really worried maybe need an mri?

Get checked: A lump in the back of your neck would likely be a lymph node or some type of  cyst. This could be examined clinically.  If imaging recommended then ultrasound the best modality to start with.
