also some mouthwashes have high alcohol content and that can irritate your gums

Peroxide  burns: Stop using peroxide as a mouth wash.  Peroxide can burn your tissuea a you are learning. Healing time depends on how much damage was done, but typically a couple of days.  You can take ibuprophen or tylenol (acetaminophen) for the pain.  Avoid spicy and acidic foods and drinks, and hot foods.  Mouthwashes can be irritating until you heal.

Many are good.: Toothpaste has agents in it, like Fluoride to prevent tooth and gum (gingiva) disease.  Mouthwashes, like listerine are also good since they kill bacteria.  Many brands of both these items are effective.  Common toothpaste brands are colgate, crest, and listerine.  Listerine and scope are common mouthwash brands.

Inflammation: The pain is probably due to inflammation in that area... Could be from periodontal problems, could be from a cold sore, could be from a burn. Can't tell over the internet. You may also have calculus buildup which needs to be removed. Please see a local dentist for a definitive DX and treatment.

You can try...: ... A salt water rinse. Than will help, but just a tiny bit. You need to determine the cause of the redness and soreness, basically the inflammation. Usually that is caused by bacteria which are stuck to your teeth in the form of hardened calculus. You will need to see a dentist to have the calculus removed so that your gums may heal.

The : The most common reasons for unusual smells in the mouth are decay, tooth infection,  gum infection, or food debris on the tongue. Other possibilities include sinus infection or lung infection. Finally your diet may be playing a part in this problem.  The dentist is a good place to start, but if no clear dental reason is found you should consult with your personal physician.

Make sure you are cleaning well under the bridge with floss and a proxy brush.  A waterpik may also be a good investment to clean under the bridge.

i have recently started to use a chlorhexidine mouth wash for my gums. after the first use, i woke up with a very bitter taste in my mouth. is it normal? how long does the bitterness last?

: I trust you didn't use more than the recommended amount. There may be some bitter after taste,especially if you rinse your mouth out with water right after using it. If the after taste doesn't clear up soon after rereinsing your mouth out in the morning, I suggest switching to another pleasant tasting,alcohol free,mouth wash.
