Dry the mucosa: Mouthwash with alcohol such as listerine will dry and cause oral tissue irritation (red, sensitive tissue). Mouthwash such as biotene will not have this problem. Bleeding gum causes by inflame tissue due to local factors (plaque, calculus, occlusion) or systemic factor (blood or circulatory disease, vit deficiency, etc...) see your dentist.
