YES: It is known as ~ primary peritoneal carcinoma. Now there are other cancers that can start in the peritoneum like mesothelioma and others that can spread to the peritoneum like gastric, colon and ovarian to name a few.  When this happens its described as peritoneal carcinomatosis.

: The peritoneum is a space that encapsulates the abdominal organs, it is not an organ. Other organs affected by cancer can spread to this space, but I have never heard or read any researcher or doctor call something peritoneal cancer.

Rare : Primary peritonial cancers are rare usually females, most of the time diagnosed in late stage., and  unfortunately prognosis is not good. To predict survival rate have to know the stage, of disease.

Not mutch: Majority of thyroid nodules are benign, and majority of thyroid malignancies are curable due to early detection .Your doctor will do fna  biopsy in the office , almost 90% of the nodules  are benign. Good luck.

Thyroid cancer: If you don't already carry a cancer diagnosis, your elevated thyroglobulin Is most likely from thyroid destruction from autoimmune thyroiditis from either Graves' disease or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. 97% of all hypothyroid patients have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Approximately 50 million Americans suffer from this.

my biopsied nodule was deemed cancerous. the cancer m.d. was perplexed that the nodule shrunk. i chose the wait and see choice. was that wise?

Need More Info: Where was the nodule? What is the presumed origin of the cancer? Did your cancer doctor give you the "wait-and-see" option?  If things are not crystal-clear, return to your cancer doctor for clarification and/or seek out a formal second opinion. Good luck.

Maybe: A growing nodule, even if slow growing, can be very serious. These are complex issues, and symptoms like these deserve a full evaluation in person by your health care provider.

Numbers not absolute: There are no absolute or fixed numbers in medical prognosis.  In principle a mass that grows rapidly has a bigger chance of being or becoming malignant. And then it still depends on the site, tissue type and other parameters. Any mass that is easy to biopsy or  to be removed should be respectively dealt with

Further evaluation: and observation, possible biopsy are necessary to determine the nature of the nodule; forunately, most are benign.
