recent ct scan to follow up lung nodule shows it at 1.9 partially calcified  vs previous 2 years ago was 1.7 centrally calcified , what now ?

Double check: These are very close and may indicate a slight true change or actually no real difference and just slight scan and reporting verbiage difference.  Have your pulmonologist review both scans directly side by side with the interpreting radiologist.  
Also use caution as a patient reading your reports as they are written for the ordering MD and not necessarily intended to make sense to patients.

x-ray picked up 4mm lung nodule, possibly calcified.  could it be larger and the rest not visible on an x-ray due to non-calcification?

Very common finding: Here in kansas city, most of us have one of more of these little nodules from having met and contained histoplasmosis. They're nothing to worry about. A lesion wasn't missed because it wasn't calcified -- i've watched radiologists at work and you can trust them. There are lesions that are so unlikely to be cancer they're best left alone. Unless your physician tells you otherwise, just watch it.

lung nodule found 11/2013 docs say it begnin & it is to small to biopsy.  it had calcification no signs show its ca but still worried. severe anxiety?

Lung nodule: If your nodule is less than 1cm especially less than 0.5 cm, has a regular border, it's solid and pop-corn like then no reason to worry, 
so another thing that your doctor could do if to repeat your imagining at 6-12 months base on your risk factors. Try to relax and repeat a CT scan around Novemebr or so if your nodule was 6-8 mm and you are non-smoker.
If you are smoker repeat it now.

ct showed 5.6mm noncalcified lung nodule. are noncalcified or calcified nodules more likely to be cancerous. 43 nonsmoker. should i do follow up ct?

Hard to say,,: It's hard to say if a non-calcified lung nodule is more likely to be cancerous.  I don't know if a study like that was done.  Having said this,  there are diseases like tuberculosis that produce calcified lung nodules, and other various cancers that can do it as well.  The best course here would be to get follow up visits and other lab tests that could rule out cancer from your doctor.  Good luck.

what are the chances a biopsied solid irregular 1.2mm lung nodule w/pleural retraction can turn cancerous? highly collagenized w/fibroelastosis & calcification. grown 4mm in one axis in 9 months since biopsy. non-smoker, but family hx lung ca?

: Need more info to give better answer. The chances are not zero.  Have you been a smoker? Did you grow up in a smoking household. Have you been a spelunker (histoplasmosis), worked around asbestosis. Discuss with your Drs esp those that have looked at the biopsy.

Concern: Not fear
most likely benign.
But get and compare any old x-rays or ct scans.
Regular ct followup, until certain no change.
Then remain observant.

Yes: Open is best, needle will not get good or complete info.
But most are benign and if tracked with imaging will not need biopsy.

Accepted Answer

Depends: The pattern of calcification is important.  Lamellar, popcorn, central, and diffuse homogenous calcification are usually benign.  Anything else that size is very suspicious.

Biopsy: A calcified nodule is likley benign. You need to compare thx xray with an old film of your chest if you have. Ct of the chest is helpful. If any doubt tissue biopsy will confirm the nature of this nodule. If you are not comfortable with the response nothing is wrong with getting another opinion.

what's a difference between "tiny benign calcified granuloma" on lung and tiny lung nodule? is a "tiny benign calcified granuloma" on lung considered a nodule or something else?

: All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, either interpretation is about the same and not a cause for concern.     Wish you good health!
