hello doctor,i have a vein that popped up in the center of my palm the size of a un popped kenal of corn.i have not had any injury to the palm?

Vein: Sometimes veins will appear in the palm of the hand, which may be related to trauma, or some kind of physical activity.  If it does not resolve evaluation by a vascular surgeon would be of benefit

Common spot for OA: The basal thumb joint is a common spot for osteoarthritis of the hand.  At age 30, you are young for that diagnosis, but osteoarthritis is a common problem at that location.

have pain in right hand with vein swelling.  no injury.  swelling goes down if i raise hand above head only?

Phlebitis: What you are describing sounds like superficial phlebitis- which is inflammation( swelling) of a vein which is close to the skin surface. We treat these with warm compresses and elevation of that extremity. The swelling can take anywhere from a few days up to a week or so to resolve. Always talk to your doctor if it does not improve with these simple measure as other causes will need to be sort.

i have prominent and highly visible veins all over my body. a vein just blew out in my hand for no reason. no injury or pain, should i be concerned?

Spontaneous: vein rupture is, by itself, not serious unless there is impending skin breakdown.  More concerning is your underlying condition of diffuse prominent subdermal blood vessels, which might be indication for systemic disease.  You should consult with internist or dermatologist.

i had stinging in my hand on a long flight, no injury.vein appeared swollen. 2 days later i have what looks like extensive bruising under skin. ?

Ruptured vein: seems likely, from minor trauma and possibly altitude changes.  At this point, just apply heat and let it heal.

i have a painful swollen bump in a vein on the palm of my hand? the bump appeared about 36 hours ago and continues to get worse. i have not hit it or injuried it in anyway.

If : If it's a small thrombosed vein in the skin, it will hurt for a few days and then clear up.  If there are no signs of anything worse, i would give it some time.

Check for obstructio: You might need to have this evaluated to make sure there is no blockage in chest - is it one side or both sides?

past couple of months it seems veins on my palm have become progressively bluer and more visible. 37 years old, should this worry me or is it normal?

Accepted Answer

Palm veins: Veins in the palm are not usually very prominent but bluish color is not unusual. If your vein prominence in both hands are equal and if the veins on the back of your hands normally collapse when you raise your arms  shoulder high, you have no worries. Otherwise consult your physician for evaluation.

when i stand up, the veins in my palms and fingers become very prominent and palms and fingers look bluish. this disappears after a few minutes. bad?

Accepted Answer

Acrocyanosis: Benign issue but annoying. Try niacin, if the flush does not bother you it will help. Doctors will prescribe calcium channel blockers.

why do veins pop out on the palms of your hands?

Usually: Seen more on the backs of your hands.  Palm skin is typically very thick.
