: Something like this would have to be examined, preferably by your dentist. A cyst is a possibility. A hard lump in the midline of the hard palate is often a congenital benign bone growth called torus palatinus.

Usually viral: While a number of things can cause such symptoms, the most likely cause would be a viral infection.  Strep might be a consideration, as well.  Check in with your doctor to be sure.

Oral Surgeon: See an oral surgeon to get a diagnosis and treatment.  It is unusual for bone to be exposed like that for  3 weeks.

I : I do not think the swelling is related to your run, but more so to irritation or an abcess, the cause of which cannot be determined over the internet.

Why don't you go see a dentist who can physically see you. Determine what your problem is, and advise you of the proper course of treatment?

: Inflammation of the gingiva is usually caused by bacteria. The bacteria can be from decay around the crowns or from hardened calculus stuck on the root surfaces. Depending on your overbite, the lower teeth may also be traumatizing the tissue. The only way to know for sure is to visit a local dentist.

Oral Numbness: How long have you had this symptom? Have you had anything new in your mouth? Do you have numbness in any other part of your body. Have you had any recent dental treatment? Have you had traum to the front of your mouth? These are all things that should be considered and you should contact your dentist as soon as possible.

Take decongestant: Congestion and dry palate can be common. Try taking a decongestant and increase fluid intake.  If no improvement after a couple days, call physician.
