Folliculitis or: abscess... These can be painful and hard. Try soaking it with cloth soaked in warm water a few times per day and using some astringent.

Cleanse, antibiotic: I would gently clean it followed by otc antibiotic ointment 2-3 times daily.  If it gets bigger and more painful then may need oral antibiotics.  Avoid squeezing it as bacteria may enter the blood and cause an infected blood clot to form at the base of the brain.

It : It sounds like you have something called perioral dermatitis. This can be a common rash in women, especially this time of year. It tends to wax and wane but usually doesn't go away with out proper treatment. Treatment usually consists of a combination of a topical cream and an oral antibiotic. I recommend a trip to your dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis and to get the proper treatment to make you better. Good luck.

Why not a pimple?: It sounds like a skin infection. Whether or not its a "pimple" treat it the same. Wash with soap, hot compresses and don't pick at it. If its not better in a day or so consider seeing your doctor.

Do not squeeze it: A "pimple" (pocket of pus in the skin)  on the side of one's nose should not be squeezed because if it is located in a certain area, sometimes the pus can go into veins without valves and actually end up in the cnetral nervous system, with severe effects.  Use warm soaks and let it go away on its own.  If it is not doing that, see a doctor.

Inflammation: This is an area of inflammation which may be due to a bacterial or viral  infection. Infections in this area of the body are potentially very dangerous and must be diagnosed and treated promptly. In view of the swelling and tenderness, I recommend being examined in the hospital emergency room as soon as possible.

Warm compress: I would placed a warm compress and then some Bacitracin ointment.  Irrigation with saline nasal spray would also help.

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'.
