See the surgeon: When you have had recent surgery, a new pain in the same area has to be considered to be related to the surgery until shown not to be.  Sometimes, post-operative adhesions can do this; sometimes swelling or fluid in the area of the surgery.  In any case, you need to see the surgeon who did the procedure so that he/she can evaluate the problem and treat it properly.

I wish we could help: you with that unique description, but, alas, only an exam and evaluation can sort this out.  The stomach and spleen are in the upper left abdomen; pain from one of those typically doesn't radiate. Perhaps it is coming from something associated with the large bowel and it turns the corner and travels down to the rectum. A complete history and exam by a skilled Doc is what you need. Stay well:)

Jaundice: You are describing pain in the area of the liver plus jaundice from a sick liver.  You most likely have liver disease - infectious, chronic, etc.  You should see a GI specialist with an interest in liver disease (hepatologist).  You may also be infectious and might need to isolate yourself in some way to avoid spreading infectious hepatitis.  Get evaluated right away.

I am sorry: I am sorry for your pain.  Are you using anti-inflammatory medicine? If so, please stop them. They can cause gastritis and bleeding leading to nausea, diarrhea.  Your local doctors should include, primary care, gastroenterology and infectious disease. If we had more information, exam and results of those tests- could have an easier time to help you.

Nonspecific: There is no specific diagnosis to left upper quadrant abdominal pain. Sometimes I have seen muscle spasms here, associated with intermittent pain and a "bulge". This can be confused for a hernia, but the bulge is the firm muscle that's in spasm. You'll have to see your doctor for a more complete evaluation if you need more info. Hope this helps!

in 2021 i had epstein barr and it caused my spleen to swell. i feel pain and tenderness on the upper left side of abdomen feeling identical to when i had splenomegaly. what could be causing this?

: Constipation can cause the symptoms you are describing. Not sure how old your mother is but, assuming these symptoms are new, she probably should be examined by her doctor. She may need to see a stomach doctor to rule out other causes of her symptoms. Cancer is just one possibility-there are certainly benign causes-but you want to get her diagnosed and treated regardless of the cause. Good luck!

Nonspecific: This symptom is nonspecific and could be due to abdominal muscle strain or inflammation, inflammation of the colon, referred discomfort from gastritis,peptic ulcer,etc. If the discomfort persists or worsens, a physician would have to take a thorough history,perform an examination and order appropriate test in order to make a diagnosis.
