Back pain: Intermittent pain in this region could be musculoskeletal, nerve or kidney in origin. Kidney stone pain is severe,usually radiates to flank and toward groin. Pinched rib cage nerve is sharp and increased with a deep breath. Muscular discomfort is worse with motion but usually doesn't disappear completely. If symptoms persist you will have to have your physician examine you and order tests.

Nerve Impingement: can be caused by nerve being sandwiched between two spinal bones in the neck area. It can cause muscle spasm and pain in the neck. This condition must be professionally managed. See an interventional pain management specialist for definitive diagnosis and management.

Fall?: Given your age and being female, acute pain in the mid back and side could be due to a fragility fracture. Do you have osteoporosis?  Sometimes these fracture occur without a fall. Even coughing can be the cause. I would see your doc.

i'm having back pain and it hurts when i breathe deeply. it started yesterday when i laid down on my belly on the couch. i couldn't get comfortable so after i got up it started. the pain is on the left side mid section below the shoulder blade.

Sometimes : Sometimes back pain is so severe that breathing is painful, but this is unusual.  The presence of pain with breathing is concerning for lung pain and i would recommend seeing your primary care doctor right away to rule out lung problem.   Especially if it is associated with shortness of breath and/or chest pain.  If no lung or heart problem is found then the pain could be from pulled back muscle or joint problem and your doctor may start you on anti-inflammatory medicine and physical therapy.  Good luck!

Depends: I presume it doesn't cause you pain. Depending on location, it could be a lipoma (a benign fatty tumor), sebaceous cyst (benign sebum filled cyst), lymph node, etc. To really know what it is, you need to see a doctor for an exam.

Injuries: Injuries were probably contusions and strained muscles best treated with rest and cold applications for 48 hours followed by Heat applications and liniment. Nsaid like ibuprofen,if you can take them, help relieve associated pain and inflammation. If symptoms don't improve or worsen, see your physician.

Lbp: It could be anything raining to minor problems such as a muscle strain to arthritis/degenerative discs or facet joints all the way to other more serious conditions its best not to mention. Best thing would be a good history and exam by a doctor.
