Exam needed: Sharp pain in a finger on being touched can be due to  a 
 spur, arthritis,irritable nerve,or small cyst or other growth. A exam by your physician or a hand surgeon would be needed in order to make a diagnosis. An X-Ray of the finger may be advised.

Lab tests?: Gout is defined by a buildup of urate crystals in joint fluid and a very painful arthritis. There are definite ways to make the diagnosis, simply pain in fingers and/or wrist does not make this diagnosis, it takes more than that, usually a sample of joint fluid to analyze -discuss with a rheumatologist or ortho to Help confirm diagnosis

May b carpal tunnel: Pain of the thumb, index finger, and middle finger may b cts. 
Usually the ring and small finger r not involved. If symptoms persist you should see your local hand surgeon.

Get checked: In an otherwise healthy 20 year old, infection of the joint is high on the probability list.  Was there a trauma?  Without injury, fx far less likely.  Get this checked urgently as long term damage is possible.  If you have fever/nausea/chills or if swelling/pain is worsening, might even consider ER.  Good luck!

The longer answer is that there are various sources of hand painn, ranging from the spine to the thoracic outlet region to nerve compression in the forearm or more commonly also the wrist.  The answer to the site of the problem can be determined by a careful neurologist possibly including electrical sudies of the nerves.  See your neurologist.
