how to tell if i have damaged by bladder and bowels by not exercising them by holding it a little?

Accepted Answer

Retention not good: Chronic retention of of urine &/or stool well after you feel need to uruinate or defecate can stretch bladder or bowel. Eventually can lose ability to contract  impaing voiding or passing bowel movements. Advise against. Al ittle is probably safe, a lot isn't.

about 3 weeks ago out of the blue i started losing control of my bowels and bladder while i was asleep in the middle of the nite. wats up with that?

Accepted Answer

Several possible: Causes include nerve damage, post-operative healing effects of surgery, pain meds, hormone imbalances and you 'could' have any or all. Ask your doctor about this and perhaps you can find a solution. Also, there are about 2% of people who have this problem with no discovered cause - but your listed conditions, meds and procedures beg  attention. Good luck w/ resolution.

i know if you're diagnosed w/ disc problems in your lumbar, one thing you're told to watch out for is loss of control of your bladder and/or bowels. what exactly does "loss of control" look like tho?

Incontinence: Incontinence, specifically or having accidents for urine and/or stool.
Very important also is also loss of sensation in the perineal area.
The reason behind it is nerve compression and damage that might result in permanent loss of the above mentioned functions unless timely operated on and decompressed.

: May or may not. Will not see many GI tumors early for example.

is it normal to have very loose bowels a year after having my gall bladder removed?

No: Most do not. Suggest physician evaluation looking for other causes.

wreck 2013 compress fx&bulge disc's from&include t12-l4. can't stop bowels/bladder if start.can this be from above?

See a doctor: Bowel and bladder incontinence is association with back injury is a serious concern. If this is a new finding, a trip to the emergency room is needed to assess the problem and prevent possible paralysis.

my bowels stuck to my stomache bladder aretha intestine ovaries through endometriosis...should i have the op to separate with my ovaries still intact?

How do you know: Unless you have had surgery to look at that you might think there is a lot of scarring but you dont know until you go in. You need to plan that out from a fertility standpoint and surgical standpoint. So you need to coordinate care with a fertility specialist who operates a lot and a general surgeon and possible a urologist if you have reason to suspect that much scar tissue.

ER/UC: You may have underlying neurological issues. I suggest immediate medical exam and evaluation

boyfriend of 59 yrs old, heavy whiskey drinker ,incontinent with bladder and bowels at times. yesterday, no bottle, was dry heaving, and had runny bm. i bought him a bottle in order to help.should i be worried he's dying?

: To help him you need for him to see a doctor and medical help for proper care. I hope he can recover. Whether he is dying or not can only be determined after medical exam.

hi, i've been noticing that i frequently urinate , especially at night. even if i empty my bowels the night before, i wake up with an extremely painful full bladder. other synptoms i've always had are dry flaky skin, anxiety and always cold.

Get eval.:  Agree with earlier input. Just the urinary frequency and painful bladder alone warrant assessment.
