Yes.: Bleeding gums indicates rhe presence of gingivitis  (gum disease). You should make an appointment to see your dentist. If you are overdue for a routine hygiene appointment, you should go as soon as possible. If you are not overdue, you should be evaluated to see if your current hygiene schedule is not sufficient, or if your periodontal (gum) condition is worsening.

Not necessarily: If your gums are bleeding, it's because they are  inflamed. The cause of the inflammation, bacteria, needs to be removed. If the bacteria are present in attached calculus, inside cavities, or in periodontal pockets, flossing will not help. Since your gums are bleeding, see a local dentist to find out why. It just might save you from wearing removable teeth.

A few days but....: Don't 'pop'  the floss between your teeth and hitting the gums. Gently see-saw the floss between your teeth slowly. Once you get between the teeth gently go under the gumline to remove any plaque. I like to floss after brushing before rinsing to help push the toothpaste chemicals between the teeth.  You can also rinse with warm salt water to help sore gums and keep current with your dental exams.

: Gums that are irritated bleed when you floss. Gums get irritated when you do not regularly floss. So the bleeding usually means that you have not been flossing regulary. It can also be a reflection of how much aspirin or ibuprofen you have been taking and makes it easier to bleed. Floss daily and avoid regular use of aspirin or ibuprofen or any other anti-inflammatory similar medication.

Stillman cleft: Improper flossing technique will produce a v cut straight down on top of the interproximal gingiva, causing injury and pain to the area. Make sure you hug the floss to the side of the tooth prior to go down subgingival to avoid injure the gum.  Keep the area clean with good brushing and the cleft will heal within days.

Not good: Bleeding=inflammation. Question is, why? Incorrect flossing/brushing? Cavities? Calculus deposits? Cavities near gumline? Periodontal disease? As you can see, there are a number of possibilities, and that's why you need to be examined by a local dentist.
