See the surgeon: It is not uncommon for teeth to be loose following periodontal surgery but they should tighten up after 6-8 weeks. Have your husbands bite checked as well as the surgical area to make sure everything ok.

Several things: Swelling, pain, pus, and redness are the most obvious signs.  If you have those signs, contact your dentist who did the surgery.

Yes, usually.: Prior to periodontal surgery, the gums are typically red and swollen. If the surgery is successful, and you carefully brush and floss every day, the gums should return to a healthy pink. You may show some recession or shrinkage of the gums also. Sometimes the shrinkage will be enough to expose some portion of the root on one or more teeth.

Surgery at root tip: The surgery involves exposure of the root tip, apex, in order to gain access to the infection/cyst.  It is then removed and examination of the root is done to see if more work is needed.  Typically a portion of the root tip is removed, sometimes a small plug is placed in the canal to seal off the exposed canal.  General anesthesia is a personal choice.  If nervous, consider it.

Stop: We have not examined you and thus cannot treatment plan your case. would suggest that you see both a specialist Orthodontist and a specialist Periodontist about your issues. Your General Dentist, the Orthodontist, and the Periodontist can then discuss your case with each other to properly stage our treatment. For example, surgical periodontal procedures are often best accomplished after Ortho.
