Compassionate: Your periodontist is concerned for the health of your gums and teeth. They have evaluated your conditions and see that the only way to save your teeth and treat your condition is surgery. They are confident in the treatment and their skills. They want the best for you. The office will be very considerate of your apprehension. It is not uncommon. Ask your question, express your reservation.

Best care: A periodontist will, of course, emethize with you as to your problem. (S)he can't allow emotions to cloud clinical judgement, only help elucidate the problem and your ability to help in it's correction.
