Yes: Oxygen therapy will not change the end of life situation or chronic kidney disease.  However the oxygen will provide comfort to a person at that stage of their life.

Some: Enzyme therapy is very useful for inflammation. In dialysis, two of the main goals is to support what kidney function remains and detox heavy metals, especially aluminum. Enzymes: I am not aware of any specific enzymes that reverse kidney disease.  Kidney disease most simply put is the progressive loss of the inner structure of the cells that filter the wastes of the body.

Plenty.: Avoid nephrotoxins.  Control risk factors for worsening ( htn, dm, etc.) begin medications with renal protective effect ( ace-i ).  Get hooked up with nephrologist.

Topical Ice: Initially topical ice is probably the best choice. If after a few days this is not resolving, a doctor with the appropriate training could consider doing a steroid injection in the affected cartilage.

Dialysis: When your kidneys function less than 6 cc per minute calculated filtration rate, you should go on dialysis.  Normal rate is about 60-75cc per minute. Unless you get chest pain , shortness of breath or severe swelling, you may not be ble to tell the difference between mild, moderte and severe kidney disease. You should bemonitored by a kidney specialist.

Treatment of CKD: At CKD stage 4, you do not need dialysis at present.  If you CKD progresses to end stage renal disease, you will need to start on dialysis or have a transplant. You do not list that you have diabetes or hypertension, if the cause of your CKD is polycystic kidney disease, not much can be done for your decline into higher stages of ckd. Your nephrologist is the one to speak to about your prognosis.

: Yes, the first is to find out the cause of your decline in eGFR.  Then treat the cause. There are hundreds of causes.  If diabetes and/or blood pressure above 120 getting it lower may slow progress.

We used to plot 1/creatinine on the y axis and time in months or years on the x axis.  The slope of that line will give you some idea of when you might need dialysis.  So find every eGFR and plot.

: Urinating at night is a common symptom of CKD. Making sure blood pressure is under perfect control, BPH is appropriately treated, the same for diabetes, sleep apnea etc. can reduce nocturia, though if it is strictly due to CKD there are no treatments for it.

CKD &amp; homestasis: Kidney maintains body homeostasis by various ways, such as excreting metabolic waste, synthesis of hormones, vitamins &amp; maintaining bone health. It regulates BP, volume status, electrolytes &amp; acid base status. CKD affects all of this body homeostasis &amp; eventually increase cardiovascular mortality. It’s hard to explain the treatment of CKD in few words. Talk to your doctor about CKD.
