No no harm: I suppose you were prescribed oxycodone by your doctor for pain, it will help the pain and no other harm will come. It can cause usual side effects like nausea, constipation, sedation and mental impairment etc.Oxycodone without  Acetaminophen can be used for pain in appropriate dose.

A Suggestion: It's best to get professional assistance if you're trying to decrease or discontinue narcotics. I must assume you've been requiring them for pain relief over an extended time period. You may have become "tolerant, " in other words, resistant to these drugs, requiring higher doses to obtain relief. But, the side effects, to which you are not tolerant, may be increasing. Professional help would be best!

Side effects: Pentazocine is an opiate based medication very much like ocycodone. It has a similar side effect profile as any other opiate including but not limited to nausea, vomiting and constipation as far abdominal side effects are concerned, although there can be marked variability from person to person and medication to medication.

Irrespective : Can be taken with or without food, ideally with a glass of water. Food has no significant effect on the extent of absorption of oxycodone from Oxycontin and liver damage is not a commonly recognized adverse effect seen with this medication. Brain damage is the number one concern.

It could be: nausea, and stomach upset could be side effects from taking oxycodone, especially if you don't not usually take narcotics or you took a higher than the usual dose

Back strain: I would stick to a good NSAID (zipsor, naprelan) and a muscle relaxer.  Narcotics (like oxycodone) do not address the underlying problem.  Ther are however many other narcotics besides oxycodone if your doctor feels you need one (tramadol, hydrocodone).
