i get functional ovarian cysts which won't go away for many months. and then, as one goes away, another develops on the opposite side. my eating habits are good. i'm fairly active. happening since 2016. causes a little pain. what to do?

Ovarian cysts: Ovarian cysts are forming every month prior to ovulation. Some times ovulation does not occur, and the cyst continues to enlarge, causing pain until it spontaneously bursts.  Oral birth control, if no contraindications exist, will prevent cyst formation. Check with your gyn provider for a low dose oral bcp "combination" pill, to control this situation.

you should follow their advice.  How big is this cyst.  If it is over 5 cm in size i tend to get more concerned.

Tiny ovarian cyst: This ovarian cyst is only 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and I question that its' size is the source of your symptoms for 18 months. Have your GYN MD re-evaluate your symptoms and if necessary obtain a 2nd opinion.

See your OBGYN!: Seems possible that the ovarian cyst has made an impact on your cycle. If it prevented ovulation in some way - you'd miss a period. It needs to be examined and depending on results, treatment decisions can b made. The pain also suggests that the cyst may be doing something new. The migraine is probably a separate issue - but call for an appt ASAP. If it gets worse, Urgent Care or ER is an option.

Discuss with doc : It is normal for a small cyst to develop on the ovaries from time to time. Ovarian cysts are quite common in women during their reproductive years and may be a single cyst or many cysts. Most cysts are benign and only require monitoring.  Most are cysts which develops from tissue that changes in the normal process of ovulation. They usually disappear within 6-8 weeks.

: The size of the cyst is concerning but management is also dependent on the clinical situation and the specific appearance of the cyst. There may be a reasonable option to monitor this for a month or two and sometimes these cysts can resolve. You need to have a thorough discussion with your doctor and a second opinion is always appropriate. Unfortunately, there is no diet that will help.
