Probably not: A CT is pretty accurate for ruling out appendicitis, so it is more likely a ruptured cyst. If so, it should gradually improve.

Not a cyst: There are 3 broad reasons only for (anemia) low blood counts: 1) bleeding (loss,) 2) failure to make enough red blood cells (e.g., bone marrow suppression/failure), 3) hemolytic diseases (destruction of red blood cells.) In a reproductive age woman (menstruating) blood loss is almost always the answer. Iron supplements can help, sometimes other medical/hormonal or surgical treatments.

Yes.: We expect that small cysts won't do much to the white count but that larger cysts might.  Remember that WBC count can vary from day to day anyway.

You : You need to have a medical evaluation immediately.  I am concerned that you are having more bleeding from your cyst, a urinary problem, or something more serious.  Please have an immediate medical evaluation.  A high white blood cell count is not typical for a ruptured ovarian cyst, it is concerning for infection.

No: They are not related unless there is infection in the ovary, but there would be more symptoms like fever, severe pain, etc.

Probably not: White blood cells are an indication of infection. Ovarian cysts are not usually caused by infection. An ovarian torsion when the ovary twists on itself causing extreme unrelenting pain can cause an elevated white count.

Not likely: Bcps in pcos are not a great idea because they increase Insulin resistance and then affect blood sugar. See if you can stop the bcps and go to Glumetza 2.5 g per day. The ovarian cyst by itself will not affect blood glucose. Cj glueck md.

Yes it can: A cyst in this location may produce peritoneal irritation or be the focus of a localized inflammation.Associated it can produce fever, discomfort or severe pain if ruptured.Mass effect also can be present if the cyst is large.It needs a visit to a gynecologist.

Spinal; see anesthes: I'm not an anesthesiologist, so the best person to talk to is whoever will be on duty on the day you are supposed to have the surgery. But, to my knowledge, "being put to sleep" (general anesthesia with a gas) RAISES your blood pressure, while spinal anesthesia can potentially lower it (for the duration of surgery). Best to get it controlled before surgery, though. TTYD or use HT Prime for how to.

can ovarian cysts cause persistent upper back ache and bone weakness / discomfort? i also have high esr and very low ferritin, all other blood normal.

Accepted Answer

More than one issue: Simple ovarian cysts should not cause backache. Low ferritin represents iron deficiency and you may have low blood count.  High ESR is usually associated with inflammation, infectious or non-infectious.  You have enough symptoms to warrant a consultation with a physician.
