why does ovarian cancer cause painful burning urination?

: In the several patients I've seen with ovarian cancer this has not been a featured symptom or presenting symptom. A lower urinary tract infection or urethral irritation/inflammation are the usual causes of burning on urination. Pelvic discomfort and abdominal distension are common symptoms of ovarian cancer though.

i know that ovarian cancer can cause frequent urination but can it cause burning also? would the symptoms come and go?

: The more likely reason for urinary frequency and burning is a urinary tract infection, a bladder infection. You can get treated with antibiotics for a urinary tract infection by calling your doctor. Your gynecologist can evaluate your ovaries by an imaging study like a CT scan as well as physical exam. You can thus be checked for signs of ovarian cancer. Good luck to you!

is having to urinate a minimum of every three hours considered frequent urination ?  i don't recal what has been normal for me.  ovarian cancer ???

Yes it may be: Frequent urination means having to run to the bathroom even when your bladder is not full of urine. It is usually a combination of frequent urination(for small quantities) and urge to rush to the bath room which implies bladder infection. This can be verified with a urine test(called Urinalysis/UA). Ovarian cancer is less likely unless you have swelling of your abdomen?

i have been finding that i have been needing to urinate more frequently during the day, but not night. i read that this could be a sign of ovarian cancer, could this be the problem?

: Ovarian cancer does not have specific symptoms, however, frequent urination during the day is an unlikely sign of ovarian cancer.

i am 34 years old. i have mid cycle pain that lasts until i mensturate. the pain is around my left ovary and frequent urination. afraid ovarian cancer?

Unlikely: The pain is more likely ovulatory in nature, but if you have a family history of breast, ovarian, or colon cancer see a gyn md to be sure that it is not.

could a cyst be a sign of ovarian cancer if you have premature ovarian failure?  i have awful pain, increased urination and prolonged heavy bleeding.

Complicated: If you have premature ovarian failure, you should not be bleeding.  Have you had an ultrasound to confirm that you have a cyst?  Ovarian cancer is relatively uncommon in your 30's, but not impossible.  See your gyn to have all of these issues addressed.

Unlikely need tests: Ovarian cancer initial stages will not have any pain a reason for delayed diagnosis , you could have anything from endometriosis, adhesions , pelvic infections hormonal imbalance etc, you need to see your gyn doctor for tests and treatment.

Requires recheck: 5 months is a long time of gap to entirely trust for sorting out your present problem. Your symptoms require a recheck up Now. You either have a UTI or something pressing on your urinary bladder. A Pelvic Ultrasound may help to find the cause. Otherwise you should be examined with the aid of a CT scan of the pelvis

Ovarian cancer: Ovarian cancer commonly spreads by the cancer cells sloughing off the ovary, floating in the abdominal cavity, and planting in other areas, especially where the fluid pools. The bladder surface is one of those areas where implants commonly occur, and can cause blood in the urine. Sometimes the ovarian tumor itself can rest on the bladder and cause bladder irritation, and potentially bleeding.

Should not: Ovarian cancer does not cause blood in the urine. However, if the ovarian cancer is locally advancing into the bladder, then blood may be seen in the urine visible to the eye or detected by a urinalysis.
