Accepted Answer

Depends: If you care about sustainable farming practices, or lowering the carbon footprint of human activity; if you don't like consuming pesticides and other chemicals in your food; if you find peace of mind in eating food farmed as it has been for centuries rather than participating in one of the many modern chemical experiments on people, then yes.  If you don't care about these things, no.

Maybe: Organic food, if truly organic (no pesticides, no fertilizers, compost only for the soil) may have slightly less toxins but regulation is poor in this arena and some organic foods have higher bacterial counts and debris like insect body parts, etc.  Most municipal water is pure while bottled water is not standardized and probably is municipal water anyway. Filtering just removes solids, not toxins.

Non-Synthetic Eats!: In a general sense, foods that are produced without synthetic additives from start to finish would be considered organic. More specifically, foods that are produced in accordance with the federal organic foods production act, may be labeled 'organic'. This is not to imply that they have intrinsically better nutritional value, nor are they somehow 'better for you'.

Grow your own!: If you have complete control over growing vegetables  then you know its organic. Vegetable gardening is great fun in spring,  summer, and fall. However, some produce you can't grow, and most people find they don't have a milking cow or a bunch of hens.  Then you can go to a pricier place and see that your milk is certified organic, as your eggs and meat. Sorry, imports have little regulations.

Less pesticides: Generally, organically grown foods are pesticide free or contain very low amounts of harmful pesticides.

No, not hype: Organic food is more expensive, but it reduces exposure to toxic pesticides.  Also i've personally noticed the flavor to often be better with organic foods (especially apples!)  another reason to eat organic foods is to avoid the genetically modified (gmo) ones that now permeate our food supply -- with little data to support their long-term safety. Yes!: There isn't yet "proof" that organic food is healthier simply because that research has not been done. What has been proven is that organic foods have significantly lower levels of residues of a wide variety of extremely toxic pesticides; pesticides increase risk of cancer, diabetes, parkinson's etc. There's no way that avoiding pesticides can not be healthier!that's not the only thing-see comment:.

Yes but . . .: There's no absolute requirement to eat "organic" as long as you increase fruit &amp; vegetable consumption and decrease processed food intake. Studies suggest vegetarian diet better than those that include animal protein. But this type of vegetarian diet is obtained by shopping periphery of grocery store, not its aisles (which contain processed &amp; boxed foods). Avoid processed &amp; refined carbs/grains 2
